Kraken launches debit cards with Mastercard

Crypto exchange Kraken has partnered with payment giant Mastercard to launch physical and digital debit cards. The new product will allow users to pay with cryptocurrencies and stablecoins at over 150 million merchants worldwide. The initiative is part of the Kraken Pay service, which supports cross-border payments in more than 300 crypto and fiat currencies. Exchange clients receive a unique Kraktag identifier linked to their wallet. At the time of writing, over 200,000 users have already activated their Kraktag. Kraken CEO David Ripley stated that the goal of the project is to make the use of cryptocurrencies in everyday life simpler and more convenient: “Our clients want to easily pay for goods using crypto or stablecoins.” The debit cards are expected to go on sale in the coming weeks. Kraken users can already join the waitlist to be among the first to access the new financial solution.
